A Bedroom Designed for Calm
This bedroom had plenty of space, but the way it was arranged made it feel more enclosed than it needed to be. The aim was to create a calmer, more cohesive room — somewhere that felt comfortable at the end of the day while still being practical for everyday life.
The Challenge
The bed was positioned in the middle of the room, leaving very little space to move comfortably around it and disrupting the overall flow.
The existing mirrored wardrobe wasn’t making the best use of the available space, so a new storage solution was needed to make the room more practical and organised. The wall-mounted TV had also become a dominant focal point, drawing attention away from the bed.
The challenge was to rethink the layout, maximise storage and create a bedroom that felt more spacious, balanced and restful.
Before
The Transformation
The layout was reworked to give the bed more breathing space and improve movement through the room, while a new storage solution made much better use of the available space. The design also created a much stronger focal point around the bed. A soft botanical wallpaper brings colour, pattern and warmth to the room, while the deep teal upholstered headboard anchors the scheme and gives the bed greater presence.
The existing blue tones were developed into a more layered palette of teal, soft blue, warm neutrals and touches of ochre. Coordinated bedding and cushions bring those colours together without making the room feel overly matched.
Matching bedside tables and lamps introduce balance and symmetry, while layered lighting creates a softer atmosphere in the evening. Finishing touches - books, greenery and a few carefully chosen accessories add personality without bringing the visual clutter back into the space.
After
The bedroom now feels calmer, warmer and much more cohesive.
The bed has become the natural focus of the room, the colours and materials connect from one area to another and the lighting creates a completely different atmosphere.
It is still a practical bedroom, but now everything feels as though it belongs - a more restful space, with better balance, clearer flow and a stronger sense of calm.
